Pavements made of klinker
pavers used on public streets are currently the best alternative.
Their benefits, compared with other types of pavement, are considerable: - ease of installation and minimum maintenance - possibility of re-using them - possibility of permanently indicating a pedestrian area - wide-raniging possibilities concerning the design of the surface
The following aspects are highly valued in residential areas: - immediate use of the pavement after installation - low maintenance costs and the possibility of re-using the tiles
AESTHETIC CRITERIA
Considering the aesthetic values of klinker
pavers, we can distinguish a wide range of elements and resources to provide any project with the functionality for which it has been designed. The design geometry of spaces (interior and exterior) is one of the great resources used to adapt paved surfaces to ceramic paving tiles.

FUNCTIONAL CRITERIA
Pavements based on klinker
pavers are especially idea , if compared with other building solutions and/or materials, in the following situations and for the following uses:
1.- Whenever the life and resistance of the colour is a basic project requirement. 2.- Whenever any of the following traffic conditions exist or may exist: intense traffic, concentration of heavy loads, etc. 3.- When the maintenance required is minimum ; for example in country areas or on country roads. 4.- When fast and easy access is required to public utilities installed under the pavement. 5.- Whenever adverse weather conditions are the norm. 6.- When the pavement is planned as a definitive long-term solution. 7.- When no delays are acceptable during the installation work due to weather conditions, and/or if the pavement has to be used as soon as it has been laid.
Functional criteria that may determine the selection of the type of tools used and of the type of paving (flexible or rigid) required
Klinker pavers laid as rigid paving are advisabel for:
- pavements with slopes that exceed 9% - areas where constant water repair works are expected - when the project designer is seeking a wide seperation effect, or when required by other project conditions
In other cases, we recommend flexible paving based on ceramic paving tiles for the following reasons: - the use of sand reduces costs - expansion joints are not required the aesthetic aspect improves and provides greater design freedom - total guaranteee in the case of paving that has to support heavy traffic -facilitates any type of reform and repair work on underground utilities - saves mony and avoids usual “patches” that appear on other types of paving - this type of paving can be used immediately after installation
